The major fund raiser sponsored by the Knoxville Opera Guild is an elegant black tie affair in the fall each year. A cocktail hour with silent auction precedes a gourmet dinner during which a short open auction is held, followed by dancing to a renowned band. The theme of many of the past
balls has been taken from an opera being performed that year.

Benefactors, sponsors, and patrons in addition to regular ticket sales have enabled the guild to make a substantial contribution each year to Knoxville Opera from the proceeds of this event.

Since 1998, the Knoxville Opera Guild has held an annual martini tasting to break the winter doldrums.  Originally associated with the annual Rossini Festival, the event featured the Rossini Funtini Martini.  In recent years, special  martinis have been developed to support different themes, for example, the 2007 El Matadore.  In 2008, the Knoxville Opera Guild turns to the
annual Irish event and hosts a St. Paddy’s Martini Party. In keeping with our St Paddy's theme, several special martinis have been developed that have a distinctly Irish twist. With names like Shamrock, Blarney Stone, and Virgin Leprechaun, you'll be tempted to try each one to determine which is the most authentic. Of course, we will be serving our classic martinis for those of you that like your martinis the old fashion way and we will have wine for those who prefer the softer spirit.

As usual, we will have a silent auction filled with great items to pick through and ponder, a delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres buffet, and performances (this year with an Irish spirit) by several vocalists from the UT Opera Studio.

So put on a bit of the green and join us for a great time. Please reserve a spot by March 11 by calling Michael Croyle at 986-4040.

An excellent beginning to a delightful evening is the Knoxville Opera Guild’s pre opera dinner before the Friday evening opening performance of each new opera.  The venue for these events is the beautiful dining room of Club LeConte atop the First Tennessee Bank Building.  Beginning
at 5:30 p.m., opera attendees may enjoy a cocktail while socializing with friends.  A delicious
dinner follows, and guests have sufficient time to arrive at the theatre for the 8:00 p.m. curtain.  Proceeds from the pre opera dinners are used to meet the Knoxville Opera Guild’s financial support of the Knoxville Opera.

Since 2003, the Knoxville Opera Guild has arranged for a series of special Monday night dinners at some of East Tennessee’s finest restaurants. Opera lovers of all ages enjoy dinner together with a portion of the cost going directly to support Knoxville Opera. Each dinner features opera selections performed by UT operatic students.

   Croquet Tournament
The Knoxville Opera Guild welcomes summer along the banks of the Tennessee river with its annual croquet tournament.  Guests are urged to dress in period costumes, white of course, to compete for best master and mistress of the mallet.  A double elimination format is interrupted in mid-afternoon for the civilized partaking of champagne, strawberries, and cream.  Matches continue while those eliminated cheer on the survivors from an open bar of summer potables.  Awards for best, vintage female and male costumes are made along with recognition of the days croquet champions.  A picnic caps the day’s events.  The annual Croquet Tournament has
quickly become a major fund raising event to assist the Knoxville Opera Guild in supporting the Knoxville Opera
